Oktoberfest & Bavaria

Saturday 21 September

  • (Arrive in Frankfurt, Rothenburg, Würzburg)

    We gather at the Frankfurt Airport and board our chauffeured coach for the charming medieval village of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Then we head to Würzburg, where we spend the next two nights in an artsy modern hotel Barthels Boutique Hotel in the center of Old Town.



Monday 23 September

  • (Regensburg, Munich) B, L

    We depart Würzburg and drive about two-and-a-half hours to the old Roman town of Regensburg, on the banks of the Danube River. Lunch is at the 12th century Historische Wurstküchl, the oldest restaurant in the world. Then it is back on the coach to Munich. For the next three nights we stay in Hotel Torbräu ; a highly-rated, 4-star, family-run hotel, which has been serving Munich’s visitors since 1490.

Sunday 22 September

  • (Würzburg, Bamberg) B, L, D

    After a hearty continental breakfast, we board our coach for nearby Bamberg, famous for its beautiful architecture. Bamberg is also famous for its smoked beer, which we get to enjoy with lunch at the Schlenkerla Brewery. After that it’s back to Würzburg for a wine tasting. We end the day with dinner together at the Ratskeller beside the Old Main Bridge.


Wednesday 25 September

  • (Munich) B, D

    This is another day set aside to explore Munich on your own. You also have the option of taking the coach to Neuschwanstein, the original “Cinderella Castle.” For dinner, we gather together at the world-famous Hofbräuhaus.


Friday 27 September

  • (Berchtesgaden/Salzburg) B

    This day is yours to explore nearby Berchtesgaden or go into the Austria’s Music City: Salzburg. Or you can just relax at the hotel and enjoy the surrounding countryside of forests, lakes, fields, and mountains.

Tuesday 24 September

  • (Munich) B, D

    This is your day to explore Munich, followed by the highlight of the trip: Oktoberfest, the world’s largest bier festival. Enjoy VIP seating and the raucous atmosphere of this bucket list event.

Thursday 26 September

  • (Tegernsee, Königssee) B, L

    After the bustle of Munich, we are off to the Alps to relax. We stop at Tegernsee, site of a monastery first built in 754, where we get a tour of the abbey and have lunch at the Bräustüberl Tegernsee. Then we head to another alpine lake, the Königssee, which sits within Berchtesgaden National Park. Our home for the next three nights is a small family-run spa hotel in an idyllic hilltop location on the edge of Schönau am Königsee.




Sunday 29 September

  • (Depart Munich) B

    Early this morning we board our coach, bound for the Munich International Airport and return home. You may extend your trip from here.

Saturday 28 September

  • (Ramsau) B

    On our last full day in Germany, we experience the Ramsauer Herbstfest, a quieter festival celebrating alpine traditions. There may even be an opportunity to watch the cows come down from their summer homes. At the end of the day we return to our hotel for one last night in Bavaria.
